“And I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship,…" "...and in the hearts of all who are skillful I have put skill, that they may make all that I have commanded you: “ Exodus 31:1-11 The Ark of the Covenant was to be a sanctuary for the Lord. The Lord had specific instructions in the construction of the tabernacle that required skilled craftsmen who could make artistic designs, work with precious metal and stones, and who had the ability to carve workings into wood. For this task, the Lord appointed certain men and gave them the skill, wisdom, understanding, and knowledge to begin and complete the tabernacle and all that the Lord commanded. When we read this passage, we see that the Lord Himself called and appointed Bezalel and Oholiab to work in all kinds of craftsmanship. When the Lord called and appointed these men, He put the skill in them to not only construct the ark but to also make all that He commanded, which included the tent of meeting, all of the furniture within the tent, the utensils, the woven garments, the anointing oil, and the oil of incense. He instructed these men to make everything according to His commands.
This should cause us to think about when God calls and appoints us for His work and all that He commands. Just as the Lord gave skill, understanding, knowledge, and wisdom to these men to begin and complete His work, He will also equip you for His purposes and for His glory. What has the Lord called and appointed you to do? Will you trust Him to give you what you need to begin and complete His work for His kingdom?
