"...that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings,
being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead
."

Philippians 3:8-11 (NKJV)

No Other god but God - Women's Bible Retreat
“O Lord God, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your strong hand; for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as Yours?” Deuteronomy 3:24
As Moses recalled his plea to the Lord to enter the Promised Land, he acknowledged the Lord as the only true God in heaven an on earth. Moses spoke of the Lord’s greatness and His strong hand that does mighty works unlike any other. Although Moses acknowledged the Lord as sovereign and able to do all things, Moses’ plea to enter the Promised Land was denied.

Moses’ recollection of his disobedience to the Lord, as well as the Lord’s punishment, was yet another reminder for the Israelites as they were to enter, possess, and inhabit the land of Canaan. Moses was revealing that although he was regarded as the leader of the Israelites and one who spoke face to face with the Lord (Exodus 33:11), he also was not exempt from the judgment of the Lord. This recollection of Moses’ plea and acknowledgment that all other gods are pagan and a form of idolatry was indeed another warning for the Israelites to fully obey the Lord’s command to destroy all of the inhabitants’ idolatrous possessions and high places (Numbers 33:52). If they would not obey, this same God with greatness and a strong hand who does works and mighty acts would justly judge them and they too would experience consequences while in the Promised Land.

Moses was forewarning the Israelites as he gave a lengthy recollection of Israel’s journey from Egypt and prior to them entering Canaan. Moses was making it extremely clear that there is no god but God and there is no one like God. Any and all pagan gods do not compare with the one true God and this one true God does what He pleases, when He pleases. Moses knew that God was able to allow him to enter the Promised Land; but after his plea, the Lord denied his plea and the Lord determined that Moses would see his final days and Joshua would succeed him. Moses, in his final years, knew more of the greatness, strength, and might of the Lord and shared this truth with the Israelites.

Reflect upon the ways the Lord has shown and is showing you His greatness, His strong hand, His works, and His might acts. There is great wisdom from those who have walked with the Lord longer and believers should give much attention to their words of wisdom. While listening to their life’s journey with the Lord, you will frequently hear, “No other god, but God”, so take heed.

I am a woman of God, who by the grace of God, is seeking to know and love Christ more through the study of His Word and I am joyfully walking this journey with others that desire the same.  I thank God for your desire to know and love Him more!
