“But if you truly obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.” Exodus 23:20-22 After the Lord gave His laws and ordinances to Moses for the children of Israel to follow, God promised His presence would be with them on their way to the Promised Land. An angel of the Lord was to go before them to bring them to a place that He prepared for them. The Lord then commanded them to obey and to do all that He said. Upon obeying the Lord, He promised that He would be an enemy to the enemies of the children of Israel, as well as an adversary to their adversaries. In order to receive this promise, the children of Israel were to worship, obey, and serve God alone and they were to follow the Lord alone. Along with the Lord’s protection, He promised to abundantly bless them as well. What an amazing promise! The Lord would bless His people and be an enemy and adversary to those that oppose them, if only they would obey, worship, serve, and follow Him. When we obey the Lord’s commands, we are in the will of God and He fights as an enemy and adversary to those that are in opposition to Him and His commands.
Consider the trial that you are experiencing. Decide to continue to trust and obey the Lord. If you are in the will of God by loving, obeying, and following Him He will guard you and keep you as He fights on your behalf.
